A Quick Look at the 8350 Epson Powerlite Home Cinema Projector

Thanks to technology breakthroughs, setting up a home cinema is no longer a preserve for the super rich. For those looking for an easier and cheaper way, to improve their home viewing experience, the 8350 Epson projector is the best option. The projector is very useful and popular for home viewing.

Though not the cheapest home theater projector in the market, Epson’s 8350 Home Cinema projector offers more features than other cheap projectors. The most notable feature is the horizontal and vertical lens shift, that lets the user move the image without moving the projector, offering more flexibility on its placement.

The 8350 Epson projector is Epson’s cheapest 1080p resolution model. With its new 3LCD technology combined with C2Fine chip, the projector offers improved and rich colors. Compared to other projectors within the same price range, it has a much better picture quality.

The 8350 Epson has a distinct resemblance to other Epson projectors. The projector is LCD-based, with a white color and a size of 5.7 by 17.7 by 15.5 inches (HWD). It weighs 16.1 pounds which is standard with most Epson projectors.

The collection of connectors on the back panel is similar to other models. This includes: three RCA phono plugs for component video, two HDMI ports for data or video signals, a computer only VGA port (there is no support for component video), composite and S-Video ports.

In addition there is an RS-232 port for controlling the projector from a PC and a 12-volt trigger that can be used to automatically raise and lower a screen when the projector is turned on and off. The 8350 Epson has a built-in sound system it therefore has no audio connectors.

It is rated at 2000 lumens, which is high for home theater projectors. This makes it ideal for a family room with normal levels of natural light. The bright output makes it very flexible, with regards to projecting pictures. It features various preset modes and an Eco- mode that allow the brightness to be adjusted to the required level.

When it comes to skin tones, the projector does a good job. It is able to maintain details in both bright and dark areas especially in scenes where most cheap projectors have problems. There is no posterization, motion artifacts or visible image flaws.

Setting up the projector is straightforward. The 2.1 to 1 manual zoom combined with the lens shift features make it easier to find a suitable spot for the projector. It can either be mounted on the ceiling or placed on top of an empty shelf or table top at the back of the room.
